Kathy A. (Pica) Carl

Kathy Carl, 68 years old, of Athens, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly with her family by
her side on March 10, 2024.

Kathy was born March 30, 1955, in Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter of Thomas and Doris Pica. She
graduated from Tioga Central High School in 1973. Kathy worked at Lockheed Martin for the
past 17 years as a Senior Publication Coordinator.

Kathy was predeceased by her father Thomas Pica, her brother Joseph Michael Pica, and
granddaughter Kendall Chavez.

Kathy is survived by her mother Doris Pica of Waverly and her loving husband Robert (Rob) Carl of
Athens. She also is survived by her son David (Kim) Bennett of South Carolina and
daughter Michelle (Gino) Chavez of Maryland as well as her stepchildren Andrew (Chelsea)
Carl of State College, Chris (Marcie) Carl of State College and Nick (Ann) Carl of Denver. She is
survived by her siblings, sister Susan Pica (Keener) and brother James Pica. She is also
survived by a special niece, Emily Pica. Kathy also has 12 grandchildren and 2 great
grandchildren, as well as 4 nephews and 3 nieces.

Kathy immensely loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. She was an
enthusiastic reader who enjoyed checking out the latest books. She loved watching the
hummingbirds from her back porch and gardening in the back yard. She also recently became
an avid New York Yankees fan and Penn State football fan.

There will be a graveside service for immediate family at the Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens,
PA. Friends and family are invited to come to a Celebration of Life at the Sons of Italy in Sayre,
PA from 4:00-8:00 pm (casual dress)on Friday March 15, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Ronald
McDonald House Charities of one’s choosing.
